- Irene Birnstill Married to Arthur Sniffin, Jr.
The marriage of Miss Irene Gwendolyn Birnstill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Birnstth, 367 Bebbe Road, Mineola, L. I., to Arthur Sniffin, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sniffin, 26-25 92nd St., Jackson Heights, L. I., took place October 23, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 129th St. and 102nd Ave., Richmond Hill, N. Y. The ceremony was 'performed by Rev. Carl Tobke. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Mrs. Robert Hassard of Wantaugh, L. I., was matron of honor. Other attendants were Miss Wilma Zeiss and Miss Marigo Sakell, Mr. Richard Sniffin was his brother's best man. The ushers-Mr. Richard Spielman and Mr. James Walker.
The bride worn ice blue satin, ankle length gown, shoulder length veil and carried a white orchid on a satin muff. Matron of honor wore light blue taffeta and bridesmaids wore skipper blue taffeta and carried old-fashioned bou- quets. The bride and bridesmaids gowns were made by the bride.
The bride attended Queens College for two years after graduating from Richmond Hill High School. Having lived in Richmond Hill until recently moving to Mineola. The groom is with the Navy, hav- ing graduated from Electronics School at Great Lakes, Ill., and Underwater Weapons School, Key West, Fla., now stationed at New London, Conn. The couple left for Niagara Falls, Toronto ; Canada, on their honeymoon.
Open house was held at the brides home following the ceremony.
